The TOUCH HD and TOUCH 3G was launched at the Heritage Mansion in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 6 November 2008.

It’s official: The TOUCH HD at RM3,399 and the TOUCH 3G at RM1,999.

HTC Corporation  unveiled its latest handset, the HTC Touch HD, an entertainment focused mobile handset that will transform how people experience multimedia on the move. Integrating a large 3.8 inch wide-screen VGA display (WVGA), a standard 3.5mm audio jack and a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus, the HTC Touch HD is the perfect device for multimedia fans.

Shifting the boundaries of design and innovation
The HTC Touch HD combines high performance capabilities with a stylish, sleek design that has made HTC a global leader in mobile phone design and innovation. Its large 3.8 inch WVGA touchscreen offers users stunning clarity and vibrant colours, providing an unrivalled experience when watching movies, browsing the Internet or even scanning through photos taken with the 5 megapixel auto focus camera.

The stylish new device also features HTC’s beautiful TouchFLO™ 3D user interface to provide quick and intuitive access to the people, messages and content that are most important. A standard 3.5mm headphone jack has also been designed-in, allowing consumers to use high-performance headphones with the device for the best possible sound quality.

Jack Tong, VP of HTC Asia said:

“When it comes to mobile entertainment options, users have come to expect, high definition, widescreen, and fast Internet connectivity as a standard. HTC leaves no reason to compromise as the Touch HD delivers that uncompromising multimedia and Internet experience.”

“We are living in a time where concepts have radically changed. The internet is so much more than just email and our customers expect to be able to access the Internet and high quality multimedia content no matter where they are in the world.”

Getting the most out of the Internet
The large high resolution, widescreen display combined with download speeds up to 18 times faster than standard 3G, enables the HTC Touch HD to render websites quickly and in full-page width. This provides a comparable Internet experience to that of home broadband in terms of both speed and page layout. This true mobile broadband experience allows users to navigate more easily, leveraging the mobile internet in a variety of ways. For example, browsing to favourite websites, searching for and streaming video from YouTube or even catching up to the minute news, blog posts and video podcasts with the integrated RSS reader, will be more intuitive for consumers familiar with desktop browsing.

No compromise
The HTC Touch HD has been conceived for both business and consumer users alike, who demand style and performance and do not think the two are mutually exclusive. The HTC Touch HD is the ideal handset for people who are embracing the mobile multimedia shift but who do not wish to forgo quality, simply by being on the move.

Pricing & Availability:
The HTC Touch HD will be available from early December 2008 at all authorized resellers at a suggested retail price of RM 3,399.00.  Standard retail HTC Touch HD package will come with a 8GB microSD™ card.

Yes, definitely will get it, but not from Malaysia. The pricing is too high here. Get it from Europe or expansys singapore. I’m getting 16GB + 8GB microSDHC, car charger, car holder, bluetooth headset, pouch at far lower price than being sold in Malaysia.

How? By shoppping at expansys.com.sg.

Type in “HTC Touch HD” into the search box and pick the 1164.99 value pack, then add in whatever accessories you like to have. For me I have picked the following:

Car mount + spare battery + 8 and 16 GB microSDHC + Car charger + HTC BH M200 Bluetooth Mono Headset +
Pocket PC Phone, AC adapter, USB Sync. Cable, Stereo wired headset, Pouch Case, Sreen protector, Stylus, User manual, Quick start guide & software CD

Total price on website= S$1429.96

I wish I could exclude the 8GB MicroSDHC to save some money but it comes standard. As I am likely to find that capacity insufficient, I added the 16GB MicroSDHC as well.

Battery life is likely to be an issue for me, so I added a spare battery.

Of course, I need the windscreen mount and car charger in order to use it as GPS.

8GB MicroSDHC, Pouch, data cable and AC charger are all standard items in the box.

Warranty is from the country of sales. For me, it does not make any difference as I reside in Australia.

Just noticed that the price which I pay is almost exactly equivalent to Malaysian ringgit 3399! But you get these extra on top of what you will get in Malaysia:
- 16 GB MicroSDHC
- Spare battery
- Car holder
- Car charger
- Bluetooth headset
- Delivery

I’ve personally tried the Touch HD and it is just very cool. The screen is awesome and it has everything. Probably more than one could ask for. It’s a mini notebook in itself only difference is that this one is so cool looking and it actually has a proper sized screen unlike the Diamond.

I’d say the TouchFlo 3D is much smoother (probably due to higher performance package) BUT still not as smooth as the iPhone. Reason is probably due to software more so than hardware. But, it is still a huge step forward in terms of WM interface. Doubt you’ll see anything more compelling or exciting in the market right now.

I got it finally, at a price even cheaper than from expansys.com.sg. Direct from Melbourne Australia, with Tom Tom latest Aussie Map and 8 GB MicroSDHC included at about SGD1160.

The best thing is I got local warranty this time.

I was impatient, so had bidded very aggressively. :-)
