We are hours away to the iPhone 3G S launch as lines are form in New York and Tokyo.  As expected, the hype never simmer down for any iPhone launch and the huge crowd that are forming lines outside Apple’s flagship store on 5th Avenue in New York and Tokyo to be the first to get their hands on iPhone 3G S are proofs that the iPhone is THE phone.

What is so magical about the iPhone that people can queue up overnight just to be the first to get it.  It never happens to any HTC phone launch and the recent launches of the HTC MAGIC in Singapore and Malaysia, has no magic at all other than the presence of some magicians.  HTC and the others – take a tip from Apple…your fans will love the hype.

When Maxis launched the iPhone 3G, I advised my friends to hold on for a few months to get the new incarnation of the iPhone.  The iPhone 3G S is supposed to be a better phone with better features and of course faster speed.  It is here at last but I don’t expect it to arrive our shores until August 09, and if we are lucky enough in July.

AWAITING THE LAUNCH OF THE iPHONE 3G S….

The iPhone 3G S will be available for $199 (16GB) and $299 (32GB) for all new AT&T customers and existing AT&T customers who have fulfilled their contract. This pricing applies to iPhone 3G customers who will be eligible for a full upgrade in July, August, or September 2009.   So are Malaysians eligible for a full upgrade too when Maxis launch it?

Actually this time the queue is much shorter because AT&T wants to avoid the same drama this time, but taking pre-orders on-line so customers just have to come in anytime to pick up their orders. Only those who were unaware of such a service were queuing.

Pre-orders speed up customers service time, so it is faster to get customers out even if they also queued to pick up their iPhone.

It was reported that, despite this, the queue is still larger than the Palm Pre crowd.
