MWG which has taken over O2 operations in Asia has informed that newer products will be launched in 2008 and that support from MWG for O2 products will continue with the present range:

That’s some good news for owners of O2 products in Asia. 

MWG is a new face in the Smart Phone market, based in Singapore, the international hub where European style and quality meets and mingles with Asian industry and innovation. MWG  aim to bring a fresh approach to mobile communications and mobile computing.

The team at MWG includes all the former management of O2 Asia.  MWG will continue to support O2 device owners and channel partners and they have inherited an exciting roadmap which we will deliver through 2008.

I wonder why MWG is not bringing in the Stellar (aka HTC Kaiser) which is so featured-rich.  Anyway expect to see MWG launching the XDA ATOM 4, XDA FLAME 2, and XDA ZINC 2 soon:

O2 MBO IN ASIA … YES, IT’S A MANAGEMENT BUYOUT!

European 2G and 3G carrier Telefónica O2 is exiting its device business in Asia and the current regional management team around O2 Asia’s CEO Mark Billington is taking over O2 Asia under a new name. The transition has begun already and will be completed in “a matter of months”.
