After the XPERIA X1, I was ansiously waiting for Sony Ericsson to release the X2 which is supposed to be a much more superior device than the X1.

SONYERICSSON SATIO (IDOU) WITH 12 MP CAMERA

Originally known as the SonyEricsson IDOU and now renamed as the SATIO, the phone was officially announced at this year’s Mobile World Congress. I overlooked posting on this phone and since I received so many requests for it specs, I have decided to post now – better late than never. The specs are awesome – 12 megapixel camera and 8GB microSD out of the box. Glad that SonyEricsson has opted for the microSD instead of their usual memory stick format. I love the 3.5″ screen and TV-out features. Expect to see the unit available for sale in Q4 2009.

I understand XPERIA X2 is coming so why is there a firmware upgrade coming for the XPERIA X1 handset.

The new firmware will bring BlackBerry Connect to the XPERIA X1, which is suitable to enterprise customers who may be locked into a BlackBerry ecosystem. Furthermore, the XPERIA X1 which runs on Windows Mobile can also handle the competing Exchange ActiveSync for push email and notifications too.

Sony Ericsson have some exciting models to announce at Mobile World Congress 2009.

SONY ERICSSON W995

Sony Ericsson W995 a.k.a. Hikaru will go officially live at MWC 2009. It combines both music and imaging prowess and additionally it takes a shot at a field Sony Ericsson have never turned attention to – video playback.

There is a neat kickstand on the back of the W995 for watching videos, while the device is in landscape position on your desk for example.

Unfortunately, the W995 only has a 2.6″ display (the largest on a SE feature phone to-date) and doesn’t have a widescreen aspect ratio.

It is regretable that SE did not pump up the video recording capabilities of the W995. While others are going for 720p HD video recording, the best that Sony Ericsson can offer with their top multimedia device W995 is 30fps video in WQVGA resolution.

Other additional specs are Wi-Fi and GPS connectivity, and a standard 3.5mm audio jack.

SONY ERICSSON IDOU

This is the first of SE to have a 12 megapixel GSM cameraphone, but it’s also the first device presented to ever run on the brand new open source Symbian user interface. Other specs include 3.5-inch touchscreen with a resolution of 360 x 640 pixels, microSD card slot, GPS and Wi-Fi.

The SE Idou is far from complete and the Idou name is just a code name for the device.

SE WALKMAN PHONE: PREMIER 3

Watch out for the beautiful new Sony Ericsson Walkman phone. It is called the PREMIER 3 and is supposed to be launched in the first quarter of 2009. Some of the features are:

SE XPERIA X1 ROM UPGRADE

Sony Ericsson has just released a new ROM upgrade for the Xperia X1i and X1a. The new ROM or shall I called it a HotFix will fix the disconnecting problem while using Bluetooth. After the upgrade your release information will show 1.03.161.7 with a release date of 21/12/08.
